You are aware that you can make it in both swords and shields right? All others have to wait until lvl 54 to use a lvl 25 rune word. Correct, it dosnt matter the mode. Griffin has lightning resistance reduction. My sorc is approaching lvl 80 and I have many unused stat points available. Also it doesnt matter at which difficulty you do the socket q with. At Hell and yes it will get 4os if you just find a plain 0os version. Only few shields can carry 4 os with monarch being the lightest with lowest str req. Sure pally gets it easier but there are better options for pally already like Herald of Zakarum. Spirit requires level 27. Blocking always works against physical attacks. spirit is MUCH better on a shield than as a weapon because it gives resistances instead of useless elemental damage. attacking, or standing, or whatnot. Just remove all level requirements and stat requirements from items. That way you are guarented of 4 sockets. Ok. Additionally, some shields can completely block an attack.
Spirit is already broken being so good that it obsoleted basically all other shields for no real rune cost. Would be nice if this was fixed before ladder season 1 starts. If not go read up on it at the arreat summit. Apparently these whiners know what the devs themselves intended. The only shields that can have 4 sockets are Monarch, Aegis and Ward. I guess it's only for players on Battle.net and on a ladder. There is a mod that is accepted in the forums that allows for ladder only runewords in single player. Ladders happen every three to four months and always includes a content & balance patch which helps keep the game fresh and exciting. If you save your Larzuk socket quest, and you find a long sword or broad sword from normal cows it will get 4 sockets from Larzuk, find the runes and presto, you can make a spirit sword. HOTO says hello, for sorceress an eschuta or a death fathom is often preffered (or an occy of you want to MF), for Necro an arm of leoric or a dfeath web are also better depending on your build. The holy Paladins of Only 1 class can use it at lvl 25 that would be the paladin. The reason spirit exist is to counter the duration of ladder. Using spirit in a shield is easier for Paladins via Pally only shields with 4 sockets. You just have to have their minimum lvl to drop. As for the rune word spirit for shields it isnt . Arm of king leoric is better. All others have to wait until lvl 54 to use a lvl 25 rune word. 1 extra level, like 4% actual extra lightning damage, and 5-20% higher fcr. I thought it works the same for normal/nightmare/hell. Edit: and no eschuta is not preferred over spirit, eschuta is terrible. Hi! For more information go here.
