This attack can trigger CoC and has been turned into a meme build before by combining Flicker Strike and Bodyswap if I recall correctly.
Cospri's Malice: 135 average damage.
The only alternative to this is if you plan on using an attack skill for four seconds exclusively and then casting for four seconds exclusively. As OP says, reserve all your mana then get 25% reduced mana cost (easy with the Tireless and Righteous Decree wheels) to cast spells during Fanaticism. On another weapon that actually had good damage it'd be alright. If E Warding simply removes curses on trigger and does not prevent them from reapplying until the next trigger then this weapon can be very powerful with self curses.
Something interesting to consider that I don't see mentioned in here is Geofri's Devotion.
Of course you can ignore this completely and just take the battlemage node then something else.
WoC will be doing most of the real damage.
One big issue I see with a lot of these will actually be procing fanaticism. Add more juice from the weapon dmg and maybe use selfcast for singletarget burst if necassary. gain 1 Fanatic charge every second if you've attacked in the past second.
Unlike The Scourge, this does not open up minion stuff. If that global physical damage with red sockets was just plain global phys instead of global with weapons then this might be okay. If you're spending a quarter of a second using an attack skill every second, Fanaticism is only ~25% more cast speed at the cost of an incredibly clunky playstyle. 25% reduced manacost or inspiration can be pretty good if you play atk for clear and singletarget spells since there can be a 4 sec no manacost window. Replica Dreamfeather is average 147 damage. The alternative is to stop doing damage or moving for a second or two and spamming cyclone, which will feel awkward as fuck to use. Innsbury Edge: Average 122 damage.
No interaction with spells, don't bother.
Yup, fire conversion is the way to go. The Saviour is average 174 damage.
Cold caster or Hybrid.
Yeah, this is one of the few (if only) weapon triggers that have spell tag rather than attack. Like youre using a 2H melee weapon with no or little attack speed scaling.
The Scourge is 146 average damage and does indeed allow for minion stuff. If you want to stay true to the physical and lightning stuff the only non-channeling physical to lightning spells are Wave of Conviction and Penance Brand. Staves like mention are king in terms of crafting for Battlemage with the useful and universial implicits, generic passive nodes and possibility to have caster and attack mods like desired.
Touch of Anguish is 165 average damage and might be interesting for the chaining and freezing. Supports any skill with an area of effect, regardless of whether that skill deals damage. i'd dust off those atkspeed + castspeed mods on the tree, jewels or gear. Maybe this is what you're suggesting (ex: Flame Dash during the spellcasting phase).
Breath of the Council: Average 275 damage. Tidebreaker: 412 average damage. (Replica) Kongor's Undying Rage: 391 average damage. Brain Rattler: 345 average damage. You don't have to spam attacks, just have an attack as a movement skill and these charges will always be up.
Getting frozen is the tricky part and tends to require Auxium, as little ES as possible, and self-hit cold damage. Lots of added fire and the frenzy charge on attack ignite.
Get permanent phasing through a Haste Watcher's Eye and figure out something that passive weapon hits can do for you as yo Battlemage spells. Death's Hand is 137 average damage.
Prismatic Eclipse is 153 average damage. Only mentioned because the 100% crit might look tempting for CoC, but the poor base damage means taking Instruments of Virtue is a waste. If an Inquisitor had better ways to taunt than using warcries then Replica Allure might be interesting, but without taunt on hit or the like any Allure is, well, not at all alluring for Battlemage.
Gain phys as extra fire might mean using a phys to fire spell like Purifying Flame or Holy Flame Totem.
EO hybrid, Replica Kongors Undying Maul: no onslaught but es regen, Oros Sacrifice: high fire dmg, ignite, cull, frenzys and decent for hybrid, Replica Oros Sacrifice: same just for Cold, Stormwall: Cold and Lightning Conversion, good flat phys, high block, good hybrid or phys conversion, The Fulcrum: good phys, triple conversion and other shenanigans, Xophs Nurture: good phys, 50% phys to fire, 10% ignite, recover life on ignite. Vaal skills, channelling skills, and skills with a reservation cannot be triggered. Itll just be a ramp up before fighting boss thing I guess. Augyre is average 201 damage. Running around while Static Strike zaps stuff should still proc Fanaticism even while you're charging Divine Ire. Stack monster density, AoE, and general speed to get further increased AoE. As mentioned, already a hybrid weapon. Arakaali's Fang is average 250 damage. Cyclone CWC could be cool (pun partially intended.). The Rippling Thoughts / Surging Thoughts are both 236 average damage. -Bex, Instruments of Zeal: Gain Fanaticism when reaching max fanatic charges, gain 1 Fanatic charge every second if you've attacked in the past second, lose all charges when you reach max charges, maximum 4 Fanatic charges, Fanaticism: Grants 75% more cast speed, 75% reduced mana cost, and 75% increased area of effect, If you are a caster you can just spam whirling blades/leap slam to ramp up charges, you dont need to hit something. The balance notes just came out and didn't mention Cospri's, but still try to get a hold of at least one just in case. Please consider helping keep the wiki up to date.
Use it as an offhand and wield something with huge damage and/or utility in your main hand since Unseen Strike triggers baseline every .5 seconds and doesn't care about attack speed. Most weapons are phys based and Battlemage grants a lot to further convert. Combine with spells that always chill I suppose? Major warcry synergy.
(Replica) Allure is 189 average damage. Replica at least has the offhand crit that might be okay for CoC, but there are much better options.
Hybrid or full caster will work wonderfully. Shame it's only 2 seconds. Battlemage gives the player character Gain Added Spell Damage equal to the Damage of Your Main Hand Weapon.
I'm probably just stuck on trying to use the stats instead of ignoring them to do something better. Cannot support skills used by totems, traps, or mines.
Izaro's Dilemma is 136 average damage and is notable for having 100% increased global phys damage while frozen.
do not need Int to function themselves, but most of their supports absolutely do. EO Hybrid, Hrimnors Dirge: Medium flat phys, 50% phys as Cold dmg.
So far the biggest difference between my old numbers and the new ones is maybe 20 damage. But the base damage sucks. Gore Shockwave has a 1 second cooldown with only 1 stored use so it's kinda blah on The Cauterizer. My absolute favorite is Panquentzalitzli for clearing stuff.
Inspiration or the passive tree/items/etc can further reduce the manacost to 0 which helps using usually low manacost atks with some 6+ link spell without much investment OR some bloodmagic weapon with free spells. Hybrid Attack and Spells The way fanaticism works it seems best to use Spells for singletarget and attacks for clear since the more castspeed mods is more useful for singletarget.
Vulconus is average 403 damage which is the highest so far. Possible CoC but there are better weapons. Pairs best with phys to chaos due to Unholy Might on crit with it. Shame there aren't more ways to get phys to chaos conversion and have it be good. If spells could cause bleeding though, the Rigwald's weapons would be kinda nuts.
Only useful for leveling with ES but even with 40-50% increased ES it's still blah. The good news for Mjolner is Righteous Providence provides significant stats to equip it and means you can go crit.
It'd be like having HOWA give its int to lightning damage as spell damage.
Performs a warcry, taunting nearby enemies to attack the user and exerting subsequent attacks. Obliteration: 122 average damage. It obviously wants to work with Eye of Innocence, but I can see it being a legitimate build. Good memey luck I guess? Supports spell skills, causing them to be triggered. I'd recommend buying a couple right now just in case there are legacy versions. Here are my item comments, assuming all weapons are 20% quality: Dreadsurge has on average 301 flat damage which is the highest for unique 1h axes and is stronger than Panquetzaliztli's average 297. Grants a buff which boosts critical strike chance and allows attacks to benefit from increases to spell damage. The slam is exerted, triggering Firestorm to rain down on those enemies.
Probably meme land. Nebuloch is average 168 damage.
Bino's Kitchen Knife is 168 average damage and can allow you to stack many poisons on a single enemy if a bunch of other enemies die around it. A subreddit dedicated to Path of Exile, an ARPG made by Grinding Gear Games. Use Time: 0.80 sec. And with Battlemage it gains the something for powerful items without even being hybrid atk/spellbased (but possible). Sanguine Gambol is average 191 damage and only has bleeding as an identity which means it's useless in supporting spells. Elusive on Replica can be good. Ephemeral Edge: 98 average damage. The following unique items are related to Battlemage: Path of Exile Wiki is a FANDOM Games Community. Decent hybrid weapon and the +proj is already good if you can skip a less multiplier, Doyanis Catalyst: Decent phys, global crit and up to 132% inc ele dmg, ele leech, castspeed etc. Playing around with a vaal axe in PoB shows getting T3 % physical (cruel) and either T3 hybrid %phys (Conqueror's) or T3 flat phys (Razor-Sharp) will roughly equal Atziri's damage but allow for other mods so Atziri's is really just a stepping stone for a spell that loves flat damage and spell levels. A duration attack like Bladestorm while you cast stuff could work too.
Socketing a utility projectile spell in this could be worthwhile maybe. Chaber Cairn: 348 average damage.
Jack, The Axe is average 168 and not worth talking about in regards to using with damage-dealing spells. Atziri's Disfavor: 449 average damage.
Learn more about Reddits use of cookies.
Sceptres and Dagger could a one handed option, Bows ofc are always a decent (or even best) caster option and can have some great utility with frenzy + gmp + hextouch + curse or similar on a distance.
Beltimber Blade: 163 average damage. Grab increased duration on the tree to make Fanaticism and Static Strike more forgiving.
Ahn's Might is average 245 damage.
decent budget option. 70% Phys as extra fire works for both thankfully.
Pure Caster is definetly the easiert way with some leap/shield charge/whirling blades for fanaticism charges, If you wanna see the stuff written here on video with my nose itching and killing me while trying to be quite to not wake up the lady of the house here we go: https://youtu.be/FVgc7mycLyo. Take your pick of Onslaught with the regular one after a crit or a massive 20% ES regen for 4 seconds after a crit with Replica.
Panquetzaliztli: 304 average damage. If not then there's really no point in playing this with Battlemage. Use Leap Slam with it to keep up power and endurance charges (through endurance charge on stun) while clearing. Uul-Netol's Embrace: 583 average damage. General's Cry is one of the best warcry skill. Tidebreaker: very good phys, decent for hybrid but more of a lower tier compared to others.
Only interacts with bleeding which means no spell interaction. Dreadbeak is average 207 damage.
The aura does not affect the one wielding it so the best you can do with this thing is be some sort of Consecrated Ground support.
Elemental warding is actually a Big Dick Spell.
I mean for one it works with neither EO nor CoC, since it can't crit. Marohi Erqi: 578 average damage.
Notably, Divergent Berserk's quality gives 1% more spell damage per 1% quality so the extra 25 rage is very useful. Static Strike, CoC, Wave of Conviction, Hypothermia, Phys to Lightning, Bonechill, whatever, Divine Ire, Infused Channeling, Phys to Lightning, etc, Hatred, Herald of Ice, Zealotry/Discipline if you get reduced mana etc, Orb of Storms, Innervate, Power Charge on Crit/Whatever, Culling Strike. Regular WoE isn't suitable for well, pretty much anything now.
Explosions and extra chaos from phys. I'm really not sure how best to make use of it, but it's very interesting with battlemage and these various ideas of a caster playstyle that also attacks. Dreamfeather is average 132 damage.
Might see Cyclone CoC BV with this but I'd expect better physical weapons will do better.
Rigwald's Command: Average 221 damage. Now the uniques for the memes or more niche: Replica Harvest: Medium flat phys, leech, global crit, elusive.
Doomsower: 287 average damage.
Geofri's Devotion should already be a thing but it's going to be even better on a Battlemage Inquisitor. Lost 40% more elemental damage.
Spiritual successor to Diablo 2, Press J to jump to the feed.
Maybe find a way to get your damage Lucky though because 1 to (550-650) is quite the huge range. Especially since you need to use it every second. Flat Elemental Dmg Caster Oros Sacrifice is one excample of a weapon that grants a lot of flat elemental damage for a non-conversion fire build. One of my favorites. Probably not worth it, but at least you can reserve all your mana and still attack possibly with CoC. Doryani's Catalyst is 187 average damage. Supports any skill that deals damage or has a duration. cannot cancel skill before contact point [1], (Normal Monsters have 1 Power, Magic Monsters 2, Rare Monsters 10, Unique Monsters 20, and Players 5), (Vaal Attacks, Channelling Attacks, and Attacks which Repeat cannot be Exerted). The global crit is helpful but other weapons will do much better. Supports spell skills, causing them to be triggered. Look how they massacred my boy. Cost: (15-19) Mana.
By scaling phys to lightning, lightning pen, and crit, our static strike should at least be doing trash clearing DPS. Frenzy charge on any crit so it can go hybrid CoC.
Perfectly rolled, you're adding 366 damage to a 2.5k damage spell.
Kitava's Feast: 407 average damage. Phys to Ele Conversion Caster Blade Vortex, Wave of Conviction, Blade Blast, Bladefall and so on. Awakened Increased Area of Effect Support, Metadata/Items/Gems/SkillGemBattlemagesCry, additive spell damage modifiers apply to attack damage at % value from divine cry, Enchantment Battlemage's Cry Buff Effect 1, Enchantment Battlemage's Cry Buff Effect 2, Enchantment Battlemage's Cry Additional Exert. Phys to lightning, lots of shock potential, 20% lightning pen.
Explosions on attack or spell hits (and the explosion is secondary, so it can't chain like Obliteration can). Supports any skill with an area of effect. +25 rage with sword offhand. But I feel like that kinda misses the point.
Stay away, very far away.
Go hybrid, yes. Debeon's Dirge: 532 average damage. Problem is they're only on kill. Actum: 230 average damage so it's a step below Dreadsurge even before considering its other stats. It is a new Strength/Intelligence Skill Gem. Check the to-do list of updates needed for version 3.14.0. The best way to tell if a weapon will work with Battlemage is if the damage is part of the weapon's implicit description area. Kongors Undying Maul: good phys, resists, onslaught, no accuracy needed. Hybrid due to attacking stats.
The offhand sword doesn't matter for Battlemage but it could offer several interesting options. Hybrid for sure. Supports any skill that has a duration, or can hit enemies to inflict ailments on them. Here you can see the player taunting enemies with Battlemages Cry and using Consecrated Path to teleport to enemies.
Still, great weapon for clearing. Maim is better had through Flesh and Stone + Maim and that setup tends to go exclusively physical rather than the 25% chaos conversion regular Innsbury has. Grab enough attack speed to make SS feel okay but not too much. Corona Solaris: 76 average damage.
"Decent caster mods and blind" sums it up perfectly.
Could be quite fun.
Ichimonji is average 128 damage. You want Auras/Heralds that benefit both spells and attacks like hatred, herald of ash/purity. You want to continue attacking. It might attack stupidly fast but that reduced experience gain is killer. Rigwald's Savagery is average 218 damage. Putting together an Actum Battlemage caster will definitely be memeland.
Blade Blast, (Vaal) Blade Vortex, Bladefall, and Shockwave Totem (notice the physical theme?)
There is about 0.1% of Path of Exile players use this gem.
The Cauterizer: 192 average damage. Don't use this when there are so much better regular 1h swords both unique and craftable with a single Essence and the crafting bench. Nothing for spells unless there's some way to get spell damage by scaling armor. Place into an item socket of the right colour to gain this skill. Kondo's Pride: 313 average damage. Staves in another post following this one.
Generic damage leeched as life on crit is nice. The Iron Mass is 182 average damage. Instruments of Virtue: Grants 10% more attack damage for each non-instant spell you've cast in the past 8 seconds, up to a maximum of 30%; also grants Battlemage: Gain added spell damage equal to the damage of your main hand weapon. Instruments of Zeal plays ofc into Insturments of Virtue as well and i wanna list everything that comes in my mind of how to use it, which items to use and which playstyles. Leap slam feels slow to use even on decent attack speed builds and its your only option. Statstick or hybrid, Essentia Sanguis: decent mix of flat phys and lightning, flat es, slayer es leech and ghost reaver, Dreadsurge: Hits ignore fire res if ignited, high flat fire dmg, some memery, Rigwalds Savagery: decent flat phys.
Scaeva is 212 average damage.
Could be amusing. Makes it somewhat useable with a mix of speed, survivability and dmg, The Harvest: similar to replica, but flask charges instead of elusive, Terminus Est: okish phys, hybrid shenanigans, frenzy on crit, Sinvictas Mettle: Rampage, Aoe/frenzy for rampage stacks, okish phys, Breath of the Council: high 1h phys, aoe, chaos dmg%, chaos skill effect duration.
Performs a warcry, taunting nearby enemies to attack the user and exerting subsequent attacks. Cooldown Time: 8.00 sec. Pure caster will work, but if you want to use the Molten Burst then options might be Cast While Channeling Cyclone or even Cast on Crit. Hezmana's Bloodlust: 356 average damage. Pretty nice clear weapon w/o explody chest with Battlemage. Or Wave of Conviction to supplement a fire conversion attack.
Its base damage is 1999 to 2998 physical damage that's 100% converted to a random element. Kingmaker: 323 average damage. In that four seconds you can and should accumulate more stacks so that you can gain fanaticism when the other drops.
Seems like it would work well with Coward's Legacy, but that's a big gear slot sink to produce this trigger. You'll have to path all the way down for the "Strike skills attack an additional nearby target" node to make this feel good as well. Daresso's Passion: 129 average damage.
For Excample we can use Ngmahus Flame Cyclone for Clear and Selfcast Purifying Flame/Wave of Conviction for singletarget. Combine with Coward's Legacy and Pain Attunement. The only thing notable for spells on this is +2 to socketed support gems but that's available as a craft from Jun though it is a prefix. Your attack damage is affected by increases and reductions to spell damage, and your critical strike chance is increased.
If it would read 'recently' it would sound like 1 charger every second over 4 sec, but i only read 1 charge every second for one second after the first second.
Varunastra: Average 220 damage.
If you wanna make a chaos Inquisitor, Daressos Passion: Frenzy on kill, 60-80% inc dmg w/o frenzy, crit multi implicit, low-medium phys and cold dmg. You want generic damage nodes life %elemental damage, %AoE damage, crit multiplier with fire skills and so on, You dont want many weaponnodes or spell specific nodes for some hybrid, Staves are a great option for their nice passive tree nodes often affecting attacks and spells and its the best option for a crit hybrid, Other weapons are better for Elemental Overload as a hybrid, you have to invest a lot for crit axes and gain not much for your spells or vice versa.
a good leveling weapon, Razor of the Seventh Sun: 30% phys to fire, 25% ignite, good phys dmg, 1% life for ignite, hybrid potential, Grelwood shank: like beltimber, but lower agency over +2 projectiles, Camerias Avarice: good flat phys, icicle burst. Chainbreaker builds, Dyadus: high flat fire dmg (if it works), 25% ignite, its okish, Windripper: Caster IIQ farmer or some hybrid, Voltaxic Rift: good flat lightning, lightning > chaos conversion, shockstuff, niche on the class but possible, The Tempest: 100% inc lightning, some flat lightning and a good hybrid option.
Decent hybrid weapon as already mentioned by OP.
White Wind is average 291 and can give a lot of cold damage plus attack dodge. Game data exports will becoming later as the technical changes in addition to regular changes take some more time. Razor of the 7th Sun: Average 234 damage.
Current Essentia Sanguis is average 247 damage total and gives an interesting option with the Energy Leech support. Or there are however many pure lightning spells you can have fun with. When you hit max stacks, the stacks drop and you are granted fanaticism for four seconds.
That's not even 15% more damage.
IIR, its okish, White wind: high flat cold dmg, high evasion, decent for hybrid, Arakaalis Fang: High flat phys and some poison/chaos, Raise spider for utility, The Scourge: Hybrid option which enables minion dmg nodes, medium phys dmg, Touch of Anguish: +1 chain, medium phys, lgoh and 30% inc cold dmg. Terminus Est: 228 average damage. Triple flat Elemental weapons are a possibility with some castermods on top. Notably, its added physical damage per endurance charge is global so it'll work on spells too. Assuming E Warding does not actually remove a permanent curse on the user like through Coward's Legacy, that means all the user has to do is get a melee hit with Geofri's Devotion every 3 seconds to be permanently Unaffected by curses. Also has life on it.
