I would have rather not taken the time to see it and would rather see an original Stavkirke. Interestingly, it was all built without using nails. Built by the same carpenters who built the great Viking ships, they meld Norse imagerysuch as dragon heads, snakes, and vineswith Christian symbols. Norway's stave churches are the country's most recognizable national treasures. Let us know if corrections need to be made. The new church is only a replica, but to the hundreds of worshipers and tourists who made their way through the forest to reach it, the structure is just as important as the 850-year-old edifice that stood on the spot five years ago.
