After crossing the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge in the northern part of the Altus Plateau, you'll find a series of windmills, including one to the south, just to the east of the bridge along a road going under the bridge towards Mt Gelmir. Youll crest the hill and see a huge number of enemies go around them to the left and enter the small animal barn attached to the building there. Shell offer to take you to Volcano Manor accept her offer and grab the site of grace once you arrive. You'll see their shots when you get closer to the Golden Seed tree.
Ride west down the steps to reach the road, then turn right and head north on the road. There are a number of Nascent Butterflies you can collect here, but look out for the zombie-like enemies that will crawl out of the water. Youre invlunerable while unlocking the statue, however, and you can run inside and tap the site of grace without too much danger. Youll soon see an Illusory Tree to the left of the road grab the Golden Seed at its base, then continue north on the road. Ride southeast closer to the Capital Outskirts wall to grab the Ash of War - Lightning Slash from a nearby Teardrop Scarab. Click on a point of interest to jump to the sections below that explain them in greater detail, including the enemies you'll face and secrets you can find. Grab the first item (a Golden Rune [6]) from the ground behind where the first enemy is standing. Instead, bear right before the fence and ride in between the rocks and the wooden palisade to go around the camp. The best way to travel to the windmill pastures is by starting from the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge Site of Grace and taking the Waygate next to it; doing this will ensure that you won't miss out on any significant loot. Part 3 will cover the northern stretch of the plateau, plus the eastern area above the staircase. These ruins are where you find Rya and Millicent if you're doing their questlines, with the latter being just north of the ruins.
These extensive ruins stretch across the eastern part of the forest, from the base of the Minor Erdtree to the entrance of the Altus Tunnel. In the center of the building (or whats left of it) next to a table is a corpse holding a Perfume Bottle, but watch out for the nearby perfumer. This item is part of Seluviss questline, and so may come in handy later, assuming you want to help him (I know I dont). If you forego using the Grand Lift of Dectus and instead use the mines inside the Ruin-Strewn Precipice, you'll be on this side of the Altus Plateau. Now ride north and slightly west and youll approach the large camp we avoided earlier, but this time from behind. Check out our Painting Locations and Solutions for more info. It will fork, continuing straight and turning right (south). The path will turn right as you reach the crest of the hill, and on the right youll see the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace. Head back up to the path and keep heading southwest, and youll be headed straight for the Rampartside Path site of grace.
Again using Torrent, jump up the rocks to the north, then turn left and head west to the building that overlooks the village. Grab the Land Octopus Ovary and continue southwest on the path. You can definitely stay on Torrent while fighting him, circling around him as melee or kiting him as a ranged character. Look east, and youll see a stone platform with a corpse on it, guarded by wolves. Using the Mirage Riddle will open up a map that shows the approximate location of the three magic crests you'll need to disable to reveal the tower. Once your first wormface is dead, head east to the Minor Erdtree, where, instead of the now-familiar Erdtree Avatar, youll find a boss version of the wormface you just met. Then, open the door to the heros grave, but dont enter. Ironically, the Cowards Path requires killing a Magma Wyrm, so it really isnt for cowards. It can be hard to see while the flowers are spewing poison, but theres a chest just west of the corpse containing the Perfumers Cookbook [1]. Go east from the site of grace, where youll find another catapult with craters in front of in between the craters is a corpse with a Golden Rune [7]. Watch out for the skelesnails (see right-hand image) in this area theyll often pop out of their shell once you pass them and roll into you or cast spells. From the Rampartside Path site of grace, head northeast on the path, and follow it all the way back to the spot where some enemies are scavenging around the broken catapults.
I even checked that wall, but the door is impossible to see until youre closer!
Grab the x2 Holy Grease from the corpse, then follow the path uphill to the southeast. Here you'll find all the available minor dungeons located through the Altus Plateau region, their respective dungeon bosses, and the special reward you get from clearing them. In the north central part of the Altus Plateau is a large misty valley that comprises the Minor Erdtree and Woodfolk Ruins, which is crawling with Wormfaces. Though keep in mind that the drop rates are relatively low.

Head to the lower camp first to loot the Greatshield Talisman and the Troll's Golden Sword from the carriages' chests. Just curious whats ssd in dont understand that..its by where you find the golden mask? Altus would be scarred by these conflicts, as Leyndell was besieged twice.
Turn left here and youll see a building follow the wooden walkway attached to it, and drop down onto the roof to the southwest, then continue forward and drop onto the smaller section of roof to find some Exalted Flesh.
Reward: Protection of the Erdtree Incantation. The road will eventually curve east stay on it, and feel free to avoid or fight any patrols you pass.
A bit south up against the cliffs youll find the entrance to the Sages Cave.
Instead, bear left before the camp and head northeast towards the shallow water there.
Continue west towards the bridge, and then turn left at the bridge and head south across the grass. With the knight deadified, go into the church watch out for the enemies on either side of the entrance who fling Lightning Pots and grab all the loot. The only thing left to do before heading into the Capital Outskirts is take out the double Tree Sentinal bosses that guard the main entrance to the Royal Capital Outskirts. Marika ruled the plateau in peace for ages, until the Night of Black Knives saw the first recorded death of her demigod children, first among them her firstborn son Godwyn the Golden. Gelmir, but we arent quite done with Altus yet! Part 4 will encompass the entirety of the Capital Outskirts. From the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace, follow the dirt path southeast down the hill, but dont head into the camp.
The West Windmill Pasture is almost identical to its eastern counterpart except that rats infest this one. After defeating Godfroy (or giving up for now), head west and use Torrent to jump up the rocks here.
Leave the building and head east to the edge of the cliff, then turn left and use Torrent to jump up the rocks to the northeast. Once its night, go check out what the merchant in the shack is selling hes got some Rune Arcs and a Perfume Bottle, plus some arrows if youre into that sort of thing. Great work!!! The closer cart contains the Trolls Golden Sword, while the far cart has the Greatshield Talisman. However, you wont be able to lock onto it from below. We suggest attacking the caravan early rather than waiting till it reaches the Writheblood Ruins because there are way more enemies there than its starting point. Continue following the road as it runs generally north, and look to your right youll see another windmill uphill from the road. Following the direction of the Windmill Village Site of Grace will lead you to the Northern Capital Gate Camp, a heavily guarded outpost with multiple catapults and enemy ambushes.
Part 1 covers most of the western part of Altus, while Part 2 covers the southern bit below the staircase, and the basin in the middle of the plateau, plus Windmill Village.
Gelmir, the Volcano Manor, as well as Leyndell, Royal Capital. Then head southwest back into the building, where youll find a corpse with x2 Beast Blood. Start from theBellum Churchsite of grace, and follow the path down the cliff to the water northeast to reach the site of grace. Most of the vegetation that grows in Altus is tinged with the gold of the Erdtree, and flowers that grow on the plateau are prized reagents by Perfumers. Climb the ladder and grab the Unseen Blade and Unseen Form sorceries. Once youre finished with the Shaded Castle, you can teleport back to the Erdtree-Gazing Hill site of grace once more. Once you climb to the top of the plateau here, youll find yourself behind the Grand Lift of Dectus. However, youll need the Left and Right half of the Dectus Medallion in order to ride the Grand Lift of Dectus.
Then go back into the tower and deal with the enemies that probably came down the ladder, then climb it yourself. Note that youll have to dodge the arrows from the giant that guards the lift unless you kill it (which isnt particularly tough, since theyre so slow). Dominula is an excellent spot to farm weapons and armor related to the Dancersfrom their sickle and cleaver to their garb and hood. Next, head to the southeast (or due south if youre going straight from the site of grace) and make your way to the rocks that abut the section of broken bridge. Grab it and then head northeast, where youll soon find a surprisingly intact catapult a corpse sitting on it holds x3 Arteria Leaf. Grab its Golden Rune [4] then continue on the path, which will fork go left to head south, and youll soon hit a perpendicular path. Go tap the site of grace this is one of the towers that lets you restore Rykards Great Rune, which you can get from the Volcano Manor on Mt. With the Deathbird down, you can now follow the paths bend and go southwest down the hill. Then ride through the large archway to the southeast (heading into the Capital Outskirts), and continue down the road a little ways to grab Outer Wall Battleground site of grace just activate it, dont rest yet. It is also home to a large fog-filled valley full of creatures that lurk around the Minor Erdtree and broken bridge that onces spanned it - and several windmill villages to the north. Altus borders Liurnia of the Lakes to the south, and the Forbidden Lands which lead to the Mountaintops of the Giants to the east. After defeating the Onyx Lord, leave the boss arena via the southern doorway and head down the stairs. Immediately after taking the Waygate, there will be a Battlemage on a cliff just to your left.
Noble Sanguine isn't super tough, but he can produce considerable damage, especially with his bleed attacks. Youll come to the edge of a cliff, but you can make your way down to the valley below by jumping on the rocks on your left youll have to actually jump at one point, so go slowly until you find the gap.
Leave the basement and continue up the stairs heading northwest to the final building on the hill theres a small room on the left as you enter the building that contains some Dappled White Cured Meat. Along the road is a scarab in plain sight you can attack.
