I now called the Tata breakdown toll free number. I got it installed and have rarely used it as they are quite irritating. I have contacted my dealer Lakshmi motors, Velachery for the replacement of the faulty component due to a manufacturing defect and they are not able to find a suitable part in Chennai to be replaced. I have read about Tata performing warranty replacement of brake pads for a few customers. Apparently was the customer care manager and told him that the staff has done a very bad job and even after several reminders they didn't listen to him too. As you can see, the expenses were mostly consumables and DEF refill. Its really an inconvenience to send the car in for checkup-service every 7k. Overall, for a 2L diesel automatic, I feel the mileage is ok. This gave me enough time to walk around and monitor the work being done. It's always better to wait for any Tata vehicle to iron out the issues and get more bells and whistles for the price you pay.

I have few questions as a prospective safari owner: Hydraulic steering gives you the right mixture of stability and ease of use. At this time, i got a reality check! One of the reasons I would never touch a Tata car. My new car had completed the 1000 km and was due for the first free service as I was in Kerala I had left my car for the first free service at Hyson motors, Guruvayoor, Kerala. Renault service isnt great to be honest but Duster (at least the 85ps one ) is a pretty reliable workhorse and touchwood the experience has been peaceful for me till now .
