I just can't shake the feeling that we are wasting most of our students' time.

Its the network leadership that does not seem to be on the same page; they roll out rushed and new initiatives each year that do not seem fully thought out as to how it will actually look on a day to day basis. Many students regularly express that they have no interest in attending college, yet Uplift offers little in the way of vocational training. Just talk to people who have been in education and they will tell you the fundamentals that should be covered by your principal first and foremost, and then by your department chair. Hard to move up as management try to keep great teachers at their school and speak badly about them, so they don't get higher positions, Depending on location can be a great place. How flexible are your working hours at Uplift Education? Only for those who are willing to put up with the extra busy work of Uplift. I have never been at a school that has had it together the way Uplift Williams does. I think Uplift is the best place I've worked. Great opportunity and support for Resident Teachers. Struggling students are routinely pushed on to the next grade. Company is okay for pay. There were incompetent people getting promoted for doing nothing. There is a lot of changes that happens at the school. Unsurprisingly, student misbehavior is common. Teaching is already stressful enough; you don't want to work here. There seems to be an attraction to prestigious schools even if in practice that means nothing. The management is always changing. Kids yell and curse at teachers, skip class, fight. Positive and encouraging admin and coworkers, Long planning periods that are respected, Kids leave early on Wednesdays which means we can have meetings during this time, (and don't have to stay late as with other schools), Great place to work. Inclusive environment. Management seems to actually care and the principal at my school is amazing.
Teachers are only paid based on years of service, and get no benefits from having a higher level of education. Educational productive and excellent learning environment for children. Some Uplift schools have a better idea of what's going on, but unfortunately, others are run by very young people with little experience. The staff uses language that does nothing to help the students learn appropriate communication skills needed to succeed in the working world. He is a liar and has never taught! Uplift Education offers a variety of locations for you to select. This by far was one of the worst years of my career. Not a lot of room to teach creatively as much of the required curriculum is scripted. Curriculum lacks resources, resulting in teachers having to spends lots of time creating resources on their own. There are zero consequences for them. Working in education is exhausting, but that is the case anywhere. Good pay and benefits, good colleagues, lots of time off. College preparatory education isn't for everyone. Curriculum is always changing. They offer great benefits and the salary is acceptable. Uplift, unfortunately, in my experience was just a lot of good-sounding marketing but was an absolute mess on the inside. The workload is definitely manageable so long as you stay organized. All in all, don't waste your time here or risk your career with everything that goes on here. Staff are friendly and dedicated to providing a strong education for students of all backgrounds. That's why they aren't called principals, they don't meet even the minimum qualifications. The micromanagement is extreme and completely unnecessary. Working at uplift Ascend is phenomenal. Way too much work for the pay with inadequate support, and it's run by people who don't know what they're doing but constantly find fault with teachers.

Stressful environment and children are never asked to take responsibility for their actions. Most of the teachers and staff here are good people who are trying their best. If you were in charge, what would you do to make Uplift Education a better place to work? They brand themselves as getting students into college, but the reality is they only care about standardized testing scores and do very little to actually prepare students for college life. CMO is responsive to teacher concerns and dedicated to student success. Charter schools have the high turnover they have for a reason. Extreme Micromanagement, no admin support. Handled pandemic fairly well. Many teachers were teaching with no curriculum and ending up on probation because they weren't cutting it, when in reality, they weren't provided with what they needed to do the job. If you want to be a teacher at a Title 1 public school, you could do a lot worse. The admin are very well organized and work hard to help employees maintain a work-life balance. However, at the campus level, the leadership is strong and supportive. School Leadership Great, Network Leadership Scattered. The environment is very ghetto at that particular location. Some say he is a racist as well. The principal made teachers submit lesson plans FOR THE ENTIRE SCHOOL YEAR in July. Teachers are often given feedback on a regular basis. The "Dean" at my location was extremely challenging to work with. The dress code for the staff is a joke. Working for Uplift is taxing, stressful, and requires a lot of on the job learning. They expect you to pull a rabbit out of a hat. The culture and diversity that the organization exhibits is very welcoming. It comes under the guise of "coaching" but it's nothing more than finding something wrong with everything you do. They care about their staff and provide Wellness Wednesday to give time back during the week to take care of other matters. My experience was satisfactory to be a first year teacher of record at a school. Instead, these likely future construction workers, auto mechanics, and home health aides are forced to read dense texts and write extensive research papers aligned with the International Baccalaureate curriculum. I've been to several districts, including Dallas ISD. Rewards working with students of a various backgrounds. Cannot track real growth and most never stay in a classroom longer than 3 years. What tips or advice would you give to someone interviewing at Uplift Education? Uplift puts people into management who are completely unqualified and have very little classroom teaching experience. Not sure if it is from a network level or what it is. Go someplace better. Super tight and revealing clothing is worn daily, particularly by the Dean, who should be setting the example. Great place to work depending upon the individual school culture. Long hours. Compensation is very fair and competitive now. I feel like I am a part of a meaningful mission. Women rate the female-friendliness of their workplaces on. The kids were great to work with and made the day interesting. How much would be the pay for a Substitute Teacher with 5 yrs experience? the principle will not do anything to help you. Horrible place of work with poor management that value burnout. The majority of students are unwilling and/or unable to keep up with Uplift's college preparatory curriculum. Management does not provide necessary supports and work-life balance is unsustainable. Work life balance is not there, toxic positivity is used as a management tactic for unrealistic expectations and poor communication. How did you get your first interview at Uplift Education? Enjoyable place to work but there is lack of communication and unrealistic standards at times. I've taught high school social studies for a year at an Uplift campus in a low-income area.
