The scenery on the way up was beautiful, and of course, the Pulpit Rock was truly amazing, though people who are afraid of heights will probably keep away from the rock itself.

We spent over an hour on top taking pictures, taking a break, and eating a snack. should carry water and food with u. the view on the up is nice but from the top its really amazing. It will be worth it when you are standing on top enjoying the beautiful view. All those stairs downhill is quite demanding, but absolutely doable. Just make sure you have some strenght left for the trip back down. We went from Stavanger with the ferry towards Tau at 8.15 in the morning and then went with the bus waiting on the other side. The trip back down took about 1.5 hours, with some snacking stops on the way. We met quite a few going up when we were going back down, though. I absolutely recommend that you start your hike as close to daybreak as you can. Lots of stairs and boulders. well it can be busy but still u gonna enjoy it. but easy to make it. We kept up a fairly steady pace and made it to the top in a little under 2 hours. Start early so there are less people. You have to hike over 4km up the mountain to reach there. Not too many people on the path. It is voted as the best fjord view in Norway. I went there with a couple of others, and we spent about 1 hour 50 minutes getting to the top. Not only does the early start allow you to avoid the crowds, but you get the serenity and sounds of nature only a quiet trail can offer, plus you have some precious time at the top with very little crowd. It takes us 3 hours up and 2.30hours down for the low-fit people like us. There will be people there that are really fit who do the trip really fast, and there will be people like me, who need a bit more time. But every effort is worth for this once in life time experience and vista. There is nothing particularly difficult about any segment of this hike as the trail is well maintained and easy to follow. Some are comfortable sitting with their feet dangling over, others, like myself, crawl on their belly up to the edge to get a peek. it has a big parking place on the foothill so u can easily park ur car, has enough space for camping so u can also spend night here on the way up. its must visit and do place if u r in Stavanger or Jooperland. Enjoy!! make sure u wear right kind of dress and shoes. Wear layers so you can peel them off while hiking but put them back on when you are at the top! It is located not far from Stavanger. It is a must see if you are in the Stavanger area. We did enjoy the wonderful views, from 2000 meters over sea level. I think this is a trip that almost anyone can do provided they take enough pauses and don't push themselves too hard on the way up.
