Perhaps youll have time to amuse us with an explanation of your scientific background and tell us about the study that concluded Moderna or Pfizer would compromise Judge body. If Im Cashman I look forward to seeing this guys back. Its a fair extension offer. He got paid yes. Tell me exactly how big a difference the numbers were, between dying of Covid, and dying with Covid. I think Cashman actually thought Judge would accept it. Are you kidding me? Im not going to call Judge greedy.
Hes not in the Cal Ripken class for health, but hes also not in the Jacoby Ellsbury class for injuries. Can someone explain why a team thats supposedly so dominated by analytics solved their shortstop problem by acquiring IKF, whos rated sub-par defensively at short by Statcast? FPG: Yeah, man, honestly thats a bit steep to me & Judge is one of the top players in the game right now. Cashman is second, but only operates this way because of Hals direction. He had months to rest during Covid and still appeared in less than half of the 2020 season. Lastly, once he slows down (speed wise), hell go from a plus defender to an average defender. Sure shop around. Kyak- thanks if you really feel that way you should be happy by the end of the day then. Get a lowball offer then end up signing with someone else. Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment. He is just a bigger Ellsbury. He is simply a great , all around player in every aspect of the game. Or hes just regrettably unrealistic.
He should anticipate no more than a 5-6 year deal in free agency. And dont forget we have a China Doll in center field. Pretty ridiculous to call a press conference just to say you didnt sign a player, The Yankees would call a press conference just to announce what the players are having for lunch and the media would eat it up (lol) seriously though the most over hyped team in sports. As a Marlins fan, I have to say that Stanton is the gift that keeps on giving. Take that as a sign of posturing or trouble ahead, but it gives a glimpse into the work that is going to need to be done before April 7 to get Judge to commit to a long-term future in pinstripes. How much is enough? So. Whoever raised you, raised you right. -. Is he looking for more AAV or a longer term? More AAV for less years? @gbs42- another crazy comment. And youre sort of arguing against your point when you say Seager is a worse fielder than Storysince Seagers bat got him a massive contract while Story settled for 43% of Seagers contract despite Storys better glove. You mention that you like him sending Stanton to the Yankees while he was running the Marlins. I mean, I completely agree with Aaron that in no way, shape, or form can this be a distraction. I do wonder if hes eyeing the Dodgers too. Not how they operate. No ones obliged to make it up to him for earning less than he was worth early in his career. Hank was a moron.
The wrist fracture was just an unfortunate HBP, the rib fracture and collapsed lung were from his poor decision to dive awkwardly in the outfield. The second team, a very reasonable, market-based offer. And what point? Facts matter. So So the Yankees offer was minimum of 8-$230.5M if $17M this year, 8-$234.5M if $21M this year. Bad, because I love baseball. I actually agree with what Cashman did, although the fact there was selfish organizational motives doesnt escape me but it also doesnt make the offer any less fair & equitable by the Yankees. Cashman can continue to play chicken into the playoffs if he really wants to, but this is becoming a more dangerous gamble (foroneside) every day.
So you really think that he gifted Stanton to the Yankees? Let him walk after the season. Meeting of 2 fools there. I think market reflection shouldve set his* expectations a bit lower, & that the total = 8/$230M, including this year, is a whole lot to leave behind for a team you allegedly want to stay with for your career especially at 30. Cant live through a full season of this storyline. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, call 1-800-GAMBLER. He will likely never cross it again & treat it as a hard cap same approach, lower his ceiling.
But its no surprise No, because he is great.. Nine or 10 years at $36 million per season. As a Yankees fan, Im tired of watching the Rays beat us with 1/3 the payroll, and then we have to pay them rev share money and share the judge jersey sales with all teams. The internet was great for the freedom of information, but unfortunately it also gives morons an endless echo chamber. @machurucuto- maybe? Cole and Stanton with Judge locked down until mid to late 30s could be a recipe for failure. You state he may get close to that or maybe a little more but theres little risk. Fair offer from the Yankees, Judge probably wants an 8-10 year deal. On Wednesday, Yankees chairman Hal Steinbrenner held a Zoom call with reporters, and would not confirm whether contract talks with Judge are ongoing. Of course it wouldnt be the first time a Yankee fan (not all), overvalued their own assets, while undervaluing the other teams. It was a fair offer and adding a year to his age will not get him a better contract next year. Its not going to make a difference in his life to get that extra, but he could lose a lot more than that. I know he thinks hes the best & its natural for him to feel that way, but did he not just watch what happened to Correa? Devers wouldnt have anywhere to play. Judge and the Yankees were unable to come to terms on a new contract before the start of the 2021 season, and at the time, Judge said he did not intend to hold contract talks during the season. Now with this Judge thing, perhaps Gary Denbo can convince Sherman to spend the money for the Marlins to sign him. Please login to leave a reply. Honestly, Lindor & Seager are complete flukes. By how much is the real question? Put that in your books. Judge turning it down maybe something he regrets if he misses any significant time. Lol, I honk they were stupid offering 7 yrs at that rate.. a player always hurt and crazy to have him on a long contract to age 37,. I dont believe it would impact the CBT this year as the offer was a seven year extension on top of whatever they agreed to this year. They can afford it. You see, you cant have this one both ways. Which will never be addressed. No sympathy here, he should have taken the money! Stantons contract isnt going to get them to make an even bigger mistake.. But when Yankee fans see the writing on the wallthey think its a forgery.
Why? Hes been in charge for almost 25 years! If you compare him to a good fielding SS maybe Story, only 1 year younger, is better. Smart move cancelling yesterdays game well ahead of time, yesterdays storm was nasty. The numbers actually did lie a lot. Yankees will trade him to the Red Sox for cash and then it will become the reverse curse of the Bambino.. @Old York- bite your tongue! Wait what? My favorite Yankee but in this instant Im gonna have to side with the team and majority of fans. Stuart would be proud!
Well, Ive a bit of a drive on the docket. I was happy about that," he told MLB.com. Yankees can survive without him. The Yankees made a fair offer, and if he rejects it, thats his right. I like Judge, but Cashman should trade him immediately so they can get some talent in return before he leaves. Want a to-go bag for that vinegar and water? This article is comparing the offer to A-Rods outrageous contract which even Yankee fans admit was an albatross. They make BILLIONS each year.
Contrast his statement / decision with Jose Ramirez with the Guardians. They will use the excuse of saving the same money next offseason to present to Judge ostensibly, until he turns it down & its too late to sign anyone else they need, thus keeping the same money again. What would you want? Less than a decade ago Robinson Can left New York for a larger contract with the Seattle Mariners. Ruth DiMaggio, Gehrig , Mantle, Reggie, Catfish, Mattingly, Jeter, Mariano, I dont see any of us squirming. I dunno how Judge hooked up with Odle at PSI Sports Management, but their stable of clients is pretty small potatoes compared to the Whos-Who of baseball managed by Boras. If theyre going to lose him, knowing they arent going to give him what he needs, maximize his value for the future of the team. MLB is an $11B dollar industry. Time for a new perspective, Hal! Obviously any serious offer for Soto would have to start with Volpe. But: we just simply did not do enough. Because you say so? Joe as usual you are right! Wow, were all really impressed buddy. I heard that Judge is sick of shaving and just wants a 2 years deal with a mellow low market yet contender team / chill media reports say that hes been offered $50 mil for 3 years with the Twins with an opt out after 2nd year.. DUNCAN & ASSOCIATES ..@2022. Given that WAR is cumulative, the fact that Judges WAR is higher than Freemans and Storys, despite his being on the field so much less, speaks in favor of his value when he is healthy. But, hes not, he 30. @Ducky- well thank god your a Yankee fan. Im starting to believe that their entire 5-year spending plan revolves around which personnel they can say theyre saving money for, the savings excuse plan, only to keep it if/when that player doesnt accept. You dont just try , you just go out and do it. Hes good when hes healthy, but how often is that? DUCKY!! All those posts in re how we couldnt spend any more money that would actually see us field a better team because funds were set aside for Judge. But if he gets hurt, then depending on the injury, he could get a lot less. If Yankee Fans do, I sure wouldnt want to be sitting in the Owners box. If you believe the Yankees are going to have to raisetheiroffer, why wouldnt Judge also raise his estimate, especially after all that hes proven through early June? The offer was $30.5M over 7 years on the extension, above both Mike Trout and Mookie Betts. Judge, who turned 30 in April, finished fourth in AL MVP voting in 2021 and won the Silver Slugger Award by scoring 39 home runs along the .287/.373/.544 line.
As a 30 year-old player with a legitimate injury history, what is he looking for? He should know better, but it tells me that he only wants to be a Yankee if he gets paid the most amount of money which doesnt really mean he wants to be a Yankee, it means he wants to be a logo that gets paid the most. A point of reference for those who think Judge is being greedy. Believing youre immune once infected is like believing youre immune from the common cold because you had one. I wouldnt be doing the I told ya so if certain people werent so arrogant in accusing me of being wrong. Players are not going to want to come to NY like they do now. Judge simply asked the Yankees to match the market values of guys like Rendon, Lindor, Seager, Correa, etc. Last season was Judge's healthiest year since 2017, as he appeared in 148 games and finished with 39 home runs and 98 RBI. I think theres zero chance that the Nats trade Soto, even for Judge, Volpe, and Dominquez. @fair-critic- regardless of your comments, the contract is done. Trust me. Jorge Mateo, James Kaprielian, Justus Sheffield, Chance Adams, Albert Abreu, Jorge Guzman and Dustin Fowler say hello. If the latest report of dollars and years is correct, this result seems weird. Were not going to talk about it any further, Cashman said. Loria gave him that huge contract and Cashman assumed it. If I am Cashman or Steinbrenner, would I want to buy 10 years of decline? We win we lose but at the end of the day. Another top notch job by the NYY Spin Machine.
They would probably get (3), maybe (4) seasons out of him worth $30M/ea. If he gets hurt, itll be the worst decision he ever made, but it just might be that anyway because I dont see him playing until hes 38 anywhere else. Way too expensive. Hes injury-prone and will be almost 31 after the season. On the surface, Aarons injury problems stem from the team emphasis on launch angles. We have to trade him to assure we dont lose him for nothing. I know they said there will be no negotiations, but they need to negotiate for his 2022 salary still. No, I think he did what was best for the Marlins, honestly, but it wasnt a gift. It still doesnt change the facts. Yes, true & look at Jose Ramirez. His agent obviously wouldnt make comps with the lesser contracts; and clearly he didnt or hed have taken the Yankees offer and run like a thief. I cant believe they offered 7 years. Hes coming off as a combination of greedy and a phony in that I dont think hes a New York guy.. Would that be enough? I say so, thats who. Cole every fifth day? Its going to be a ton of money, its likely to be an overpay, and, just maybe, if Judge can average, say, 120 games a year, the Yankees wont care. This is 100% on Judge. The Yankees have a history of sticking to the bottom line, so he may actually end up walking and getting less money and for shorter term. They havent won anything with him so as the saying goes you know ,they could just as easily continue the trend without hin, unless things change in the front office in my opinion. No team will give him more than that and if he has a bad season or is injured, again, for a chunk of it that offer from cashman will be off the table. They were taking a big gamble too, to offer what they did.
There comes a time when even rich teams become worse off by spending too much money across many players. We cant lose the best. The ask on Soto would be huge, unless they wait another two years or so, which is still fine because hes so young. Dont get me wrong, as a Sox fan Id love to see him sign with a non-divisional rival. This is not even money you have to invest or spend wisely, like the icons of the past that had to work post-career.
I would be. Hell wind up wasting his career like Trout and never be in the playoffs every season.
I rather trade him for trout and use the money yankees offered to pay trout contract. I love the guy but hes making a big mistake, And it was a reasonable offer, a life-changing amount. For the players, they are mercenaries and go where the next highest dollar is.
And yeah, Yankees dont like when guys go public. That said, $30M/year @ 7 years is a reasonable offer, but completely inexcusable for bailing on all their other needs I thought they may go to $225 or so, but, it makes sense that they wont spend any more on Judge than the AAV on everyone else because thats the new Yankees. Prior to the campaign, the Yankees offered Judge an (at the time!) Consider this, however.
On Opening Day, when Brian Cashman took to the podium prior to first pitch and announced to the masses that he and his team had failed in an effort to secure a contract extension for Aaron Judge, the Yankees season seemed to be starting with a pall over it. That would and should be a no. That does, normally set the standard. I agree it has far more downside, Joe. And Freeman is getting $27M per.
So he better have a good season if he wants to ged paid as a FA, Yup, the stupidest comment of the day by far. 7 years at $213 mil doesnt seem bad. @Milwaukee-2208- your assumption is incorrect.
But if you actually pencil it out the chances he has another serious injury are pretty small. If anyones greedy, its Odle. So obvious. Why not ask for the moon? Not signing this guy was the best off season move by Cashman. !WE HAVE A WINNER!!!DFB! @kcmark how is $214M over 7 years a hometown discount? Nonetheless, regardless of those details, I think this is a bad choice on Judges part because of what hes leaving on the table, and how quickly he could lose it. As good as Judge has been, he has some injury history and will be 30 by the end of the month. Listen to the full podcast here: Spotify: https://t.co/Xtk3KBFFFy pic.twitter.com/eUKRsO8Qxm, While Heyman doesnt believe Judge is in line for the length he was reportedly seeking, hes now admitted that $36 million for seven years feels more fair for a midseason update. So his agent is now leaking that they didnt ask for 9 years, lol! He will be in his 30s & retire as one of the wealthiest people in the country. This is forever life-changing money. Oh Great, the Dodgers just found their trade deadline rental target, If anyone thinks this isnt a great offer or if its low they are nuts. He wants as much money as he can get and thats just fine. @flamingbagofpoop- Big deal, Im 30 years old in a month. Judge is the one who rejected the offer. Numerous offers, all under 5 years, & the lower the years, the closer to reaching his desired AAV I highly doubt he will get both, but I also said neither Seager nor Correa would get anywhere near 10/$325 too, & I was wrong. But theres a whole lot of ancillary/related stuff we can. Thats an albatross, my friend. Prior to the campaign, the Yankees offered Judge a reasonable extension for (at the time!) New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge expresses desire to extend contract before 2022 season. That makes no sense. The supposed reason for not improving was the Judge extension. Wheres that money? Good luck with that.
Also, re: the money-savings & the fact they couldnt spendthey completely tanked several offseasons to get under the CBT, only to tank another over$213M over 7 years? Assuming the offer is true, I am not sure how $235M over 8 years (7/$213.5M new money plus $21.5M for this year) doesnt get it done unless Judge is looking for a 10 year deal or an AAV closer to $35M. Im sure than cash with select that person ,so he will be a clone of Cashman anyway, so who knows how much different he would operate.
